Another Accusation Of A Click Fraud Scheme Makes Headlines

It’s not your imagination! More and more allegations related to click fraud schemes are making their way to the courtroom. Some of the more well known cased include the Russian Methbot Operation and Criteo Vs. SteelHouse. And the latest ad fraud lawsuit is between Satmodo LLC and Whenever Communications LLC.

Let’s cut to the chase, here’s what happened…

Whenever Communications Did What!

On February 1, 2017, Satmodo LLC (the plaintiff), a San Diego sales and rental company of satellite phones filed a complaint against a competitor based in Florida, Whenever Communications LLC (the defendant). Just a few of the many complaints cite the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act.

The NorthernCaliforniaRecord reported that;

“According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in 2016, it suffered substantial monetary losses caused by defendant’s’ employment of a click fraud scheme to monopolize the top positions of search engine advertisements… Defendants allegedly disregarded plaintiff’s demands to discontinue their fraudulent click scheme, forced plaintiff to pay for the invalid clicks and to be prematurely eliminated from the market…”
